Which bathroom should i use?

Hi!
I'm a FTM (Female to Male) Transgender. I just started my transition. I'm not on hormones yet. I think I pass pretty well! I have some facial hair going on, but my voice gives me away :/
Lately, I've noticed I'm afraid to go places because I'm afraid of using public restrooms. I have a weak bladder. I would use family restrooms but most places don't have them.

I'm afraid if I use the female's bathroom for now I'll get dirty looks. I'm also afraid of someone thinking I'm a pervert and say "Hey, this is the ladies room!" I guess I'd just use my female voice and be like "Excuse me?" :P and they might think I'm just a Lesbian or a Tomboy. It's still uncomfortable for me though.

I want to use the men's bathroom but I've heard a few rape stories from other FTM's. I would use the stall. Since, I don't have an STP (Stand Up Peeing Device) I'm afraid of someone seeing my feet and hearing me pee.

Any advice?
Thank you for your time!

  • Congratulations on your transition, much success to the new you!

Because you're *in the process* of making a dramatic and life-altering change, everything you do now may be difficult and challenging until your transformation is complete.

You're right to be leery about using a male bathroom for the reason that you stated. Unfortunately, that attitude and subsequent reaction is still all-too-prevalent in many societies.

For now, it may be wiser to continue to use female bathrooms until your transformation is further along and your appearance is closer to the final result and you transition fully to male. Your safety may be at genuine risk around other males, unfortunately. If females question your presence and security/law enforcement is involved, you'll have to explain your situation (I'm sure you know the drill) but it may be less traumatizing than if you are harassed, attacked or injured by a(nother) male.

Anyway, best of luck with your transition and I hope you can get out and enjoy life without having to put up with unpleasant attention. :)

  • Just go in the male bathroom and make really loud farting noises while you're peeing.

Seriously though, props to you!! I wish you luck and hope you find true happiness. And stay safe.

Honestly, I'm a female and I've used the male bathroom quite a few times becuase of the female one being out of service, or a real long line....and you know what/ Who cares. Nobody ever said anything. The worst thing about the mens room is that it's so fucking filthy and smelly, with piss everywhere and for some reason men seem to shed incredibly long pubes at an alarming rate. There are fucking pubes everywhere in there!!

I'd just go in the mens, because you have to get comfortable with it anyway, right? You have to start somewhere, sometime. I'd bet even if you were fully 'transformed', and waited till then to use the mens room, you'd still be just as unsure and nervous as you are right now. So why prolong it, just go for it!!

Oh, hey, another idea....you could pee in the stall but sit (hover, rather) on the toilet the opposite way so anyone seeing your feet will see they're pointed in the 'right' direction.

Females might take real issue with you being in there (if they think you're male) just because it's so wrong for a male to be in the ladies room, whereas men really don't give a shit. I could totally see women freaking over you and calling security and shit. I'd hate for you to be bothered by store security or police even, you don't deserve that and that would be a terrible ordeal to have to explain (or maybe even prove....) your gender to a fucking mall cop or police, you know?

  • i could be wrong, but if your uncomfortable with the womens room no man is going to rape some transvestite, i cannot even imagine such a thing. the only way anyone would rape a transvestite is if some incredibly, demented and perverted raving lunatic happens to be in the bathroom with you and luckily these types of people are likely few and far between. if you are concerned, carry a whistle but i doubt any man would rape you, especially considering that you are a transvstite

  • I would use the mens room, and if you're really scared about the rape thing, bring a whistle. You may think I am kidding, but I'm not. If someone tries something, blow that shit like no tomorrow. The owners of the restroom will come to investigate the noise, and help you.
About your voice; talking doesnt usually happen in the restroom, so that should be okay.

  • Seeing the feet while peeing is not an issue. It is not uncommon for men to pee while sitting. Just a matter of preference.

But if you are really afraid, is there any male friend who could come to the toilet, if it's taking you too long? He could come to wash his hands after X minutes, or something...
