Which antidepressant is best at killing crushes?

I'm a serial crusher: no matter where I go I always end up obsessing over someone and coping with that is draining and painful. I used to be on Zoloft; it worked a charm and made my then-crush completely disappear but I couldn't live with some of the other side effects of the Zoloft so had to change. What I'm on right now isn't stopping my crushes any more. If I'm going to take medication for my sick mind I might as well take one that kills two birds with one stone. I need out of this horrid, soul-wasting obsession!!

So tell me is there an antidepressant you've taken or know of that has this effect? And does it kill sexual drive/function too? For the time being I like being completely 'switched off' : it uncomplicates life a lot. I don't want my libido back.

Thanks.

Try some CBT. You don't need to be part of a pair bond to be happy. You don't need another person to complete you, you are entirely complete on your own.

Good suggestion, you beat me to it.

If the only treatment you're having is pills (of any kind) nothing is curing anything. Medication has its uses for some people but they're not magic. Have you tried therapy as well as or instead of medication? I suggest CBT, as did RoseIsabella above. Check it out.

For a Christmas present to myself, I bought a pre recorded course on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from TheGreatCourses.com. I got it for 90% off the regular price. I don't need it, but it aroused my interest because knowing the material might help me give positive input to people I meet online, especially here at IIN, where people pop pills, talk to shrinks, and find life to be more difficult than it should be while living in their basements.

So with noble intent, I am studying the material. I do not have a personality type is relatable to a wide variety of people. But, I suppose that's all the more reason to learn this stuff and see what happens.

I looked it up, but it looks like it has gone back up in price. Ugh.

I might be able to sell you my copy for $25 after I am done with it in a couple of months. I bought the version on CD.

I'll have to check. $49.95 plus ten bucks for shipping, I think. (The streaming on-line version which I didn't want was 90% off). Probably be done with it around March 1st. I took one of their other classes on "Optimizing Brain Fitness". It was good. Gives you much more of wholistic kick to your mental awareness; that Renaissance mentality, so to speak. My diabolical sudoku puzzles, although addictively fun, weren't getting the broader enlightening effect that I was looking for.

So, do you want the material? If so, I'll get you gold membership so we can exchange contact info. You could check in with DirtyBird while you're at it.

    Smith and Wesson.

Totally joking! Crushes come and go. Im not at all a mental health professional or pretend to know very much, but when i hear people say they obsess over something, i think OCD. Are you sure you are treating the proper disease? So many mental health diseases carry similar symptoms. Again, im no doc, but its possible.

Dumb reasoning, but ok. pretty much any SSRI removes all your feelings. it's kinda awesome especially if you're asexual / don't give a fuk about relationships to begin with. except for removing all motivation / energy as well. but that's when you can skip a douse for the manic effects of withdrawal. obviously not recommended but since were talking about using prescriptions for personal reasons there you have it

That's what happens if you get aan incorrect dosage or a medication not suited to you. "Removing all feelings" is not normal.

Oh really? well fuk. I mean I didn't have that many feelings towards people to begin with (not trying to sound edgy) I mostly just felt anxiety and nothing else, so it was better with that gone. All i remember is that it was pretty much impossible to cry, and all the bad thoughts were gone so there was nothing to care about. it was nice but too unnatural after awhile, still haven't really found an alternate solution yet though

I'm sorry that happened. It seems to be all too common in the US.

What anti deps are MEANT to do, is be lift you to a level where you can cope/function, and therapy gives you the tools and strategies for learning to do all the humaning things. Then you wean off the pills and with continued therapy, you continue to function.

They're like training wheels. They're not meant for full time use. They're to help you while you learn the skills you need to go solo.

Yeah that's true, which is basically how i ended up using them, except with being able to socialize in general and learn from that, since apparently doctors here arent very helpful when it comes to therapy. nowadays I'm much less socially anxious, so i quit taking any, but all the feelings returned, mostly depression and feeling weird around people but no longer nervous about it. I feel like i still need to learn how to do the humaning things somehow lol :/

Play around with cyanide. 3.5 ounces of ground apple seeds do the trick.

Slow cook half a cup of raw kidney beans before full cooking temperature, this turns them toxic. Give them chili and two hours later you have an alibi or mistaken poisoning.
