Vietkong was barely a 1 million man army. As rich as the US is why do you assume no Americans can build guns? Actually you can print a automatic gun on a 3d printer. Theres also Americans who build assault rifles! Again its a very rich country with plenty of people to fund a war.
Also in Afganistan google says in 2001 there was only 41,000 taliban. We are still there to this day fighting them and they didnt have much money!
If Americans decided to overthrow their government it wouldn't be as hard as you would think.
