Faraday is for radio shielding. A junkyard will have bolts everywhere making metal detectors useless. Buy a kilogram of roofing nails and scatter them about as decoys if you decide to go with the nature preserve.
If all the societies in the world broke down at once, you would have a Mad Max survivalist scenario. You could weld RPG launchers to the roof of your car to take out bad guys. Good stuff for exciting barbarian movies.
