When you see someone you knew in public do you say hi?

I actually avoid people I know in public. I get scared when I see them and I try to avoid them seeing me, even if I like the person. I have some really weird social anxieties.

I don't. At least I don't initiate the hi. It's a poor habit because I'm sure I come off as rude. I don't forget faces and always recognize someone and even if I think "hey cool it's ____!" I still don't say anything. Not sure if it's shyness, being a dick, being preoccupied, or disliking small talk.

i always say hi and greet them with smile and hug, unless they are teenaged family friend. i could not pretend i do not know them.

I dont notice people when I am out in public. I kind of task oriented. I do my task and leave.

I hate when I see someone I know and they see me but we're quite far away from each other and as you get closer you have to decide when to acknowledge them. do I keep looking at them as I'm walking towards them or do I wait til I'm within talking distance or what? it's awkward as fuck

Only if I feel like it and I'm not in a hurry. I usually just say hi and keep walking unless I want to stop and talk to them.

If they see me, I'll say hey. If they don't, I'll go on.

These days I'm too scared to say hi and I'll either say it in an awkward way or I'll just do what I can to avoid them seeing me.

It depends on the relationship I have with that person. Even if I just know him or her I offer a greeting. If we have a bitter experience with each other and if the person didn't notice me I will try to avoid the meeting. If I am noticed my greetings will be offered in an effort to mend our relationship.

I vote "other". Depends on what kind of relationship I have with the person.

If I'm friendly with them, I'll certainly say hello. If I can't stand the guy/gal, they're gonna get ignored.
