I went to a few new restaurants lately.

Mugbees...food was mediocre to bad, the place was disgusting. Service seemed untrained. Never will go back.

Gold Star Chili...liked it, have been back.

Casa Grande...good food but drink prices were outrageous. Will not return.

Old Town Grill new location (have been to their other locations)...too noisy, bad seating choice (sat us, party of 2, at a huge table when smaller tables were available), 3 different people served us, food was ok but one item was far inferior to the other locations.

I had my Jeep repaired at a dealership and the service was excellent. Would go back.

Husband looked into a motorcycle shop and the whole place gave off bad vibes (jailbird employees, flakiness), would never consider going back.

Went to the state of Wisconsin and it was weird, never want to go back.

Living in an apartment right now for the first time in my life and hate it overall. Can't wait to get out.

Made a tri-flavor slushy from Mountain Dew, blue raspberry and cherry and it was great.

Started playing the lotto and have consistently won quite a bit so will continue.

Oh! I bought some African berbere spice too, it's so good! My brother told me about Ethiopian food years ago and it sounded good but I haven't really had a chance to go to any good ethnic restaurants since then but this awesome store is right down the street from me and they sell all local and fair trade stuff and I got a jar of that spice there. Amazing! I also got some pancake mix made with distillers mash that is so good. They tried to sell me lamb last time but I don't know if I want to try it.

Ethiopian food is fucking amazing. We've been to a few places in Atlanta and Charlotte. Always worth the trip. I've tried to make injera (bread) twice and fucked up. Would love to find some berbere.

Lamb is much like beef, only softer and sweeter. I hate how it smells when cooking, but a lamb roast is quite nice.

I've heard lamb has a very earthy flavor. I do recall as a child, a family friend cooking a lamb roast and I did not like the smell but that was 30-ish years ago so maybe my tastes have changed, but the fact that you think it smells too makes me inclined to trust that memory. I don't like saying I won't at least try something but ehhh, lamb might be one I pass on. Lambs are so cute too, I know that shouldn't matter but it keeps popping in my head.

A local company here makes a berbere, I don't have a gauge on how authentic it is but from what I've read about the spice, it seems about as right as you could get being in Kentucky. I'd send you some if you wanted!

That's sweet of you :) I think I'll pick some up at the restaurant/shop in Charlotte next trip, though. Not sure if I'll be allowed to bring it home, but I can try :)

I booked one helicopter flight lesson and was allowed to hold the controls, under tight supervision obviously. That was a childhood dream come true. Too bad a full course costs €50,000 though so it's only a millionaire hobby...
Also, the model I flew in was a Eurocopter EC 120 B, not the usual Robinson R22 that students learn with initially. That was the real deal, a turbine powered helicopter.

That is so cool! Flying freaks me out but I'd like to try piloting anyway.

If it freaks you out then I don't recommend a helicopter (although a common misconception is that on engine failure they fall like a brick, you can auto-rotate to any landing site safely while an airplane far from a runway is out of luck) but maybe a Cessna or a Piper Cub. It could be a way to overcome that fear of flying. Small aircraft are easy to fly. It's take off and landing that requires skill.

I live right across from an airport currently and I have seen these crazy go-kart with a parachute things flying around. Freaks me out just thinking about it.

LOL I have a cousin who does this thing. It's not that risky in fact, thanks to the very parachute.

I know logically they have the parachute that should save them but Jesus...just watching it is tense.

I tried a new washing powder. It gave me an awful rash and now nobody will go near me.

Thanks for reminding me of my shitty situation.

Today, I had a goats cheese and chilli chutney panino. It was really nice. Oh, and I bought some Five Counties cheese which I haven't had yet.

I have black water I need to try. It looks like ink.

I tried purple carrots recently. Now I am obsessed with them and everyone I cook for is pissed cos it makes the food all purple and that isn't very appealing.

I grew different colored carrots one summer...white, yellow and purple. They are so pretty but unfortunately they made me itch like crazy!

That sucks :( my grocer had yellow and purple ones. I tried both. Yellow just tasted like "regular" carrots but the purple are a tad sweeter. I bring them for lunch. The kids won't steal them, then, and they're great with hommus. I made my own for the second time last night, and didn't fuck it up like the first time :D

        My life is so exciting...

I got a new guy, got some new cabin love. Soon after, we went to a symphony, tried and loved authentic korean food, seen a new band, visited a few new cities.. I'm finding new music monthly or so. And, I tried kayaking for the first time and got sunburned to death like never before. I didn't think about it, but I've done lots of new things in the past year. *high fives self*

High five! I tried Korean BBQ potato chips and they were disgusting but I love kimchi and other Korean foods so one day I'd like to go to an authentic Korean restaurant.

Kayaking sounds fun. I have rafted before and had a blast. What are the major differences between kayaking and rafting?

I really liked the sharing atmosphere of the restaurant. We got this big pot of some kind of beef stew that you just scoop into your bowl as you please. And it was delicious and plentiful. And before the main course, you get a bunch of tiny bowls of samples, my favorite being the calamari. And the best part is, those are as free as bread at olive garden.

There's not much rafting on my area, I don't think. It seems like it would be more exciting.
