When people pay for your food

When I go out with my wife and her family to a restaurant they insist on paying for us and I hate it. It makes me feel uncomfortable for some reason. We make more than them we can pay. I appreciate the gesture but its every weekend.

I feel a similar feeling except I make less than most of the people who try to pay for things for me. I don't like getting help from others. It kinda feels like I'm a leech or something. XD

The rule I've always gone by, is who ever asked the others to go out to eat, unless otherwise specified is offering to pay.

Two ways to stop them, set the rule before you accept.
    1. Accept but state: only if you let me treat this time.
    2. Be the one to ask, then when the bill comes you can say this ones on me because I asked you to come.

The worst part is when your friends tell you to pay for their food.

Stop the server and give them your card before your inlaws can get the check.

This. I always give the check to whoever asks first. And if you want to continue to get the check make sure you tip well. Bc after I know better, I’ll give it to the better tipper. Lol

    Tell them to alternate.

I always tell the servers to make separate bills. Sounds like a dick move, but I take care of myself, and if they can't afford it, they have no business going out to eat.
