When just imagining someone in pain, do you feel bad for them?

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE VOTING:
I don't just mean when you see someone in pain, but when you imagine/see someone in pain and do not imagine feeling that pain yourself, just them.

I automatically imagine myself feeling their pain/it happening to me when seeing someone in pain, and therefore feel bad. But if I try not to imagine myself in their shoes, I don't feel bad.

So I'm wondering about you

Also, you may have seen a question about seeing gore pictures online and that was also my post, I am just wondering about my ability to empathise and if it's normal.

no, only when I imagine feeling it myself do I feel bad for them 3
yes, even without imagining myself in their shoes, I feel bad for them 15

If you’re a healthy and intelligent person, understanding that someone is injured or sad will make you go :( in your head at the very least. This is basic survival instincts.

This post is about IMAGINING it. And also physical health and intelligence have nothing to do with it, I would argue.

I don't feel bad even if I imagine it's me. So your poll does not have my answer. Maybe add an option?

Unless it's actually happening to someone I care about particularly much or actually happening to me, I don't feel it. I can't imagine my way to feeling bad.

Yes, but it depends on the person, and or animal for that matter.
