I don't think there's any one "right" age for it. Whenever you feel like you're mature and ready, go for it. It's your own business.
Still, it's pretty hard for me not to judge someone if I hear they've lost it (consensually) at, say... 15 or younger. That just strikes me as skanky.
Anything over 16 is reasonable, although 18 is probably the safest bet.
