When i'm angry i get the feeling of killing someone

I often when I get angry i get the overwhelming urge to just kill someone or something and it's probably because I've been keeping it all to myself. Ive mentioned this to all of my friends who then promptly lost touch with me and im scared that i may not be able to change it.

You have serious anger management issues, you need therapy before you might physically hurt someone, not only endangering that person but risking your self being sent to jail...

Anger is never a primary emotion, it has other feelings such as shame/embarrassment or frustration/etc boiling underneath expressed as anger. The fact that you acknowledge the abnormality is a positive sign you've seen this as detrimental to your well being so you are prepared to analyze the rationally and realize the difference between and urge and desire. We all have urges but they become desires when ya mentally feed it. In order to overcome this you've got to be willing to change something drastically, people have similar expirences to you, believe it or not, and expressing your feelings to someone you truly trust can help you overcome the imperfections and variations of the human mind. jw.org

Yes, this is normal though you should avoid acting out on it. It is of interest you mentioned "the overwhelming urge to just kill someone or something" though, which means to me that if you could vent your aggression on something non-human your urge to destroy would be quenched, am I correct?

So then, if this is true, try doing something aggressive like boxing that helps you vent your emotions in a way that is acceptable to people, instead of hurting an innocent person. Or, you could do what I do and watch gore videos every time you're upset with individuals and imagine that the people being tortured and murdered in those videos are the people you hate.

Lastly, don't try to change it. The harder you fight feelings like this the stronger they become, I know from experience. Just satiate your urge to kill with something non-criminal and focus on other activities. It will still be a part of you, but it won't overwhelm you.

Therapy may or may not help, but you could give it a try.

  • I think you are overreacting. Everybody feels this once or twice. And if you are frightened by yourself, it can come back to haunt you every time you get angry. It's a different thing if you fantasise about killing and feel an almost unstoppable urge. Then get help. But if not, I think it's a good idea to adapt the following. Inside everyone, there is an animal. A monster. And if we get to know this monster, we get to know it's desires and we can control it. But if we want to forget about it, sweep it's existence under the rug, out hide from it, then it can come out and destroy or lives without our control whatsoever. So face you probably have a monster inside. You are caballero of killing someone, you might even enjoy it. Still, do you want it to control you and run your and other people's lives? No. Then you keep an eye out for it, and you know if the feeling comes next, you're in charge. You can also keep your monster in check by studying your issue. Murderous intent is usually connected to the issues or repressed sexuality. Try to find your monsters weakness. Get to the root of your issue. And take control
