When do you think music was at it's worst?

After making a poll where I asked you guys when you think music was at it's best, I think it only makes sense to make an opposite poll. When do you think music was at it's worst?

1950s 3
1960s 2
1970s 0
1980s 2
1990s 1
2000s 10
2010s 24

    Where's the option for 2020s?

    • The option will appear when the decade is over. Too early to call right now.

I would never want to live in a world where every artist/musician sounded like Imagine Dragons. So be optimistic that that hasn't happened yet.

As a person who listens to foreign music (European, Spanish, and a little bit of French) I think modern technology is able to create some aesthetic songs. Take Stero Love by Edward Maya for example: thanks to technology, it created a pretty beautiful song.

Though mainstream music of modern era doesn't add up in comparison.

Easily now. Its all crap. There's some amazing bands and artists out there still but they're obscure in the sense that you have to be aware of that scene to know of them. They're never on the radio and they're unfortunately never going to recieve the sort of status they would've decades ago.

I can't vote in this poll because the option is for one decade only and my answer is music has been at its worst for the last 30 years.

I would say 2000's butt rock. I heard so much of that and 2000's pop that I'm eternally sick of it. But, most 2010's and 2020's music sucks, too. Late '90s "post-grunge" was also pretty bad.

The 2010-2021 music is the worst its ever been. Whats the last good song?

The last good song was 'The Living Years' by Mike and the Mechanics (1989).

I agree with the 2010’s. No melodies or lyrics stand out.

I do agree with a lot of the mainstream stuff that came out like Pitbull, Imagine Dragons, and AJR to name a few.

I would say that it's not all bad, since there was a lot of cool Industrial music that came out as well.

2000s emo music. Despite the fact that I find the music and fashion nostalgic, a lot of the music didn't really age well. It's mostly just a bunch of skinny dudes screaming and singing about death, blood, lost love, teenage angst, and wanting to die.

    • The 2000s had a lot more things than just emo music though. It was arguably more diverse musically than the 2010s were, I'd say.

I get what you’re saying, and it seemed like last decade is when music was running out originality.

But compare to the 2000s music was less artificial and seemed become more “organic” with a decrease in autotune.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • Yeah, the late 2010s was clearly inferior to the early 2010s.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Early 2010s music was crap. Late 2010s is when BTS joined and changed the game :¬>

    • The whole 2010s was crap, but the late 2010s is easily the more forgetable half of it.
