Whats the best way to not spend/withdrawing anything with my credit card?

Whenever I have my credit card close by I have the sudden urge to spend some of my money and I feel like I need to lay off but I find it way too difficult to lay my hands away from it. Like I've even tried to hide it away from me but nothing seems to work.

And sometimes I am constantly thinking about withdrawing money out of the ATM.

P.S.S : I only asked this because I want to use it less.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Is there a way to cancel your credit card and maybe get some money back if you paid for it? If so you should, but I don't know exactly how that works since I never had credit card. If you do not actually need it and you have trouble controlling your purchases I think you should simply not have it.

Try planning your purchases beforehand. And maybe it helps to get more content with what you already have and find hobbies that do not constantly cost new money.

Get a really annoying 0hone case. Keep your card inside the case. So anytime you want to use it it's a big hassle

For a number of years while I was getting out of debt I had my two credit cards locked in lock box in the house that was hidden.

Virtually all local purchases were cash only (and if I did not have the cash I would not buy it).

For a planned major purchase or travel I would take the card I was planning to use out of the lockbox.

I went from about $45,000 in CC debt to no CC debt by this method.

I still mainly purchase most local items with cash, even though I now carry at least one credit card with me at all times (normally for emergency use). I also use CC's for internet purchases.

Note that I have had no CC debt for over 15 years (I pay them off at the end of the month).

Have money automatically go to other checking accounts every friday when you're paid. One 20 dollar payment can go to an account named car account a second 20 dollar payment to savings and a 3rd payment going to some stocks like the s&p500. You can download apps that make it as easy as one click to invest in stocks. Your problem is you arent getting "rid" of the money. You wanna throw it somewhere and forget about it. Act like its not yours. Years later look at those accounts and youll be happy.

Never just let alot of cash stay in your checking account.
