There's a reason people despise games with required internet connection. It inconveniences everyone who buys the game, as well. You can't play them after the servers get shut down; you can't play them if your internet is down. You can't play them if the servers decide to break randomly; you can't play them if your internet is being weird. Required internet connection is absolutely hated amongst the gaming community, at least for single player games.
My game would be so popular that people would be willing to put up with it. In small print somewhere I'd also mention they're only paying for a subscription and I can update the game how I want, or remove it entirely.
That's how you get to be known as absolutely obnoxious when it comes to policies of that variety. It's not a very kind thing to do. That's how you end up, years later, with a free remake of your game that everyone claims to be way better than the original, in most regards.
What would your anti-piracy measure be if you made a video game?
