Hmmm... we've all been there! None of those options are the best and while the last may be tempting, don't do it! haha
I think the best thing to do would be to politely ask the father to tell the child to stop kicking/screaming/pulling hair. If that fails to work directly address the child and tell them to stop it in a firm but not rude/aggressive manner. Alternatively, if it is not a full flight, ask to be changed seats :)
