Let's say that one morning you woke up and discovered that you are the last living being on earth. Buildings, Monuments, Material things are all intact but there are no animals, people or any other living things around (except plants). What would you do?
lots of things.
but primarily: Try and raid a sperm bank.
Since that does probably NOT work(all living stuff gone and that...), try and learn about cloning, then try and impregnate myself with a clone of me(you can mostly do that in-vitro, taking out/injecting with a needle-thingie...no full operation with narcotics needed :P) before electric power is gone. If i die during the procedure, that's fate.
If it works, however, i'd try and repopulate with a huge amount of me-clones, eventually, with my daughters joining in, and eventually die as cult leader that passed down artifacts, the garden of eden and rules to live by.

na, really, this turned up a while ago, after me and a few friends were watching "I am Legend", and sitting with a few drinks and mindstorming what WE would do in such a situation.
I had read about female sharks reproducing without male partners soon before, so the idea about a sperm bank kind of popped up...needless to say, the girls cheered for it and the boys made long faces, realising us females had a shot at survival for the human species while they could just act like children before eventually dying one way or another. :)
See the world. Live in the ultimate mansion. Eat lots of food that would be considered a delicacy. Hang out at the amusement park. Swim in a vat of chocolate. Wonder what in the world happened to everybody. Try to find answer to my wonderment. Learn a whole bunch of stuff... and finally, go completely insane.
I would get pregnant the night before and I would have a baby, and it would turn out to be a boy, then I'd wait for him to grow up, and then.. OMG I know this sounds disgusting, but you'd have to have a baby with him to make the population to keep on going.
I'd miss the animals though. How hmm I would get all the girl animals the night before to get pregnant with the boy animals, and I would shoo all the retarded animals to not exist. I would then take all the smart animals and help them grow and adapt. I would then get an airplane and put a suit on so the blood doesn't rush down so fast in my head, and the suit would protect me.
This would never happen. Arthropods were here 500 million years ago, and are far more adaptable than we are. Also, most plants have a symbiotic relationship with animals. Without animals, most plants would also die.
Indeed, if you wanted to include bacteria, we would also die without them, as the bacteria in our gut is essential for digestion.
