What gives nations the right to govern themselves or even exist? Is sheer strength the virtue of existence?

In their natural state no but given knowledge man can form a nearly perfect government as he did with the Roman state.
We were designed to be ruled by God. Without God, we fail. If Rome was the best we could do, then we are truly in sad state.
