We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness — not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

I cannot decide between the Christian version in the "Left Behind" series which wisely took 12 books to describe (maximizing publishing profits) and which was better than than a Spanish soap opera....or the Nicholas Cage version in the movie "Knowing" (where the aliens/angels send messages to the underage chosen children to get off the planet pronto and who are wisely advised to leave their parents behind; and then there's the Stephen King version in "The Stand" where the genetically enhanced superflu kills off most of the population and the good people from Colorado (LMAO) go to stand off against the naughty people in Vegas (is it bad if I only played the nickel machines?)...

you need to google obama before you make aneducated statements like this. If it were not for him your soldiers would still be getting killed in a war that was started simply over oil. He is also bringing in free health care.
What has any other american president ever done except sent the men and women, our sons and daughters, off to be slaughtered

That's because I still remember when the Trilogy was actually a Trilogy ;-)

Yeah, true. Although if you include The Salmon Of Doubt, you can see it as two separate trilogies. The real trilogy and then the trilogy of extra parts to the trilogy.

I love calling it an "increasingly misnamed trilogy"

what's funny is finding bits of it mentioned in the Dirk Gently series. IIRC the couch stuck in his stairwell was a chesterfield, no?

            =)

Defining society is difficult. The end of life as most of the western world knows it (i.e. Capitalism) will, sooner or later, be defeated by the economy. No ecomonic system will last forever, and when the current one ends, another will take over. In what direction it will move is difficult to anticipate, and how life for the normal person will change is anyones guess.

The end of human life, again in the western world, will not end any time soon. Governments are too intelligent to allow the current nuclear stalemate to get out of hand in the foresee-able future, and that is most major threat.

I think that if a civilisation could accurately predict the causes of its own downfall, it could also prevent it. But as you say, all societies fall eventually. By that logic, nobody knows how society will fall.

As a side note, I don't believe in the NWO, and I'm not going to have a debate about it either. I've looked it up and concluded that it was utter nonsense.

Yay! With this partnership, we can form some form of secret organisation to control all of the planet's inhabitants and resources! First, we need to recruit all the world's leading superpowers, even the Chinese and Indians, and devise a system to control the media and food production industries simultaneously, as well as maintain employment and economic figures without drawing attention to ourselves. We'll also need a snappy name, something that sounds as if a conspiracy theorist made it up on the spot to make it sound cool. You in?

    • Thing is, the current civilisations rely on technological advances too much. What happens if the technology that they will probably use to make this prediction, fails?

      • dom180

I doubt that we'll need technology to make a prediction. We are all making our own predictions right now, as is the point of this poll. All we need to do is reach an argreement, and we know what to avoid to prolong civilisation. However, IIN is technology, which renders my point somewhat flawed. All technology will fail someday, as it gets replaced most of it will become useless, much like civilisation.

I'm assuming you are reffering to the US. I don't like it, but I think the way we are headed will eventually (in a few centuries) lead to a single global society. It is alread happening in Europe with the growing strength of the EU. I think you will eventually see a united global government that most of the world belongs to.

And yes, I'm aware of the UN, but I'm referring to a stronger governmental organization.

  • It starts off by sex. Majority of the earth will turn promiscuous and obtain AIDS and die. Then a lot of people will get pregnant at like 9 and then some of the mothers won't be able to handle the birth so they'll die then the other half will raise their kids in an terrible environment and all schools will cost money so now the 9yr old moms won't be able to send their children off to school. Then after that, when everyone grows up, mostly everyone will be poor and resort to selling drugs or using them. The users will die and some of the sellers will die too. Now, since majority of the people are drug dealers and everything is so expensive there might be a huge war:
The Poor Vs. The Rich - a lot of people will die and with whoever is left there won't be enough people to build back the earth and everyone there will be too stupid & lazy to build it back up. Then there might be cults conducted by evil people that ends up creating a mass suicide since by this point people will look for someone to 'believe in' and follow. Or there could be tons of people committing suicide anyway because they can't handle life anymore. Therefore everything crashes and everyone will kill each other to survive....

Until there is one man & woman who are good wholesome people named Adam & Eve and they will start the cycle all over again.

    Just a theory though.

    Starvation, war, civil unrest, bacteria/virus.

Starvation=running out of farm/pasture land, increased failed crops, more people less food

War=increased political unrest around the globe as resources dwindle, old political parties crumble, power and fear increase

Civil unrest=ever worsening economies, increased unemployment, homelessness and desperation, people being backed up against a wall of despair

Bacteria/Virus=increased usage of anti-bacterial agents only accelerates bacteria mutations creating stronger stains, same with anti-virals, its a end game where the germs win.

Most societys are intertwined nowadays. Some form of technology may help us progress forward into a new age though, maybe the ability to live longer or one day having people travel to a different planet would be big leaps forward.

  • Humanity will end itself. We'll end up killing each other, like savage beasts, using diabolical weapons. Anyone not killed, or tortured will have to suffer themselves, and see how long they can last, which won't be long, more than likely. Considering the massive pit Humanity has dug itself into already, because of how much we rely on technology.
