What to do about wrong number repeat caller?

I cannot turn my phone off at night, I am on call 24/7.

This caller (I can recognize the voice, it is the same person) first called me at 4 a.m. one morning, I told him he had the wrong number, and he called the next time from a different number at 12:30 a.m. At that point, I blocked both numbers. My phone shows he has attempted to call my phone at all times of the day and night from one of the blocked numbers several days in a row. He used a new number to wake me up at 4 again today, and I told him he had the wrong number again and blocked this new number.

I cannot be woken up at all hours of the night by someone who can't get a phone number right to save their life. Can my phone company block all numbers under his name?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Dude, I think you're just going to have to be a dick. It sounds like you've been reasonable, and it's not worked. Shout at them and tell them to piss off next time they call. It's worth a go.

    • If it happens again, I definitely will. The only reason I didn't the last time is because I was so tired all I could really say was "You have the wrong number... again" in an annoyed tone of voice. Next time I'm going to lay into him.

Guessing that wouldn't help. Idk where you are, prob USA? I didn't need any ID to buy and use a phone when I visit the US.

Can you get a second phone for work calls?

Contact the authorities maybe a stalker, i would especially be worried if you are a female.

    • Yes, I am a female. The number is from my town, but I have no idea who it is or how they might know me. It is kind of creepy, especially since I got a total of 31 calls (including attempts after I blocked his number and the calls all went straight to voicemail; some of the calls didn't even have a minute between them and he called an average of 7-10 times per day in the course of about 3 days).

He luckily hasn't tried to call again, knock on wood. Do you think I should still contact authorities?

Well definitely call up the polices office (not 911) and ask for guidance on what to do next. Atleast make family or friends aware of this just encase you go missing or something like that. Im not really experienced in situations like this!
P.S if you live alone i would look into having a gun for self defense you never know. Umm not sure what else to say but be vigilant on social media account to make sure people aren't add you pretending they are someone else. (This happened to my sister, someone posed as my great grandpa on Facebook to add her.)
i would wait at least a month until you forget about this. WISH YOU ALL THE BEST!!!!!

You can get a app for spoofing calls. As for blocking all his call No they have a lot apps you can get hundreds of numbers. The best thing is get a app for your self get a new# and probably put it on another phone.

That's happened to me a shit ton of times. Same person I don't know but that a company or whatever has called me sometimes 10 times a day from different numbers, I block each one and they always find a new one to call from and during any time of day from 5 am to 10 pm. It's crazy. Sometimes i'll pick up say a bunch of stupid shit to mess with them, it works sometimes because some of them don't wanna deal with that.

Possibly do something repulsive so they quit. When i get repeat calls from telemarketers. Ill turn it sexual. I try to record it for laughs. Later

    Keep blocking, he'll get bored.
Ive blocked more robo calls then I can remember but they always find a new number to call from.
Guess Im lucky, My phone is off when I sleep.
Yelling etc isnt likely to help.
I delt with a simular Ass.
I couldnt turn off the phone, and I had to answer.
    ( work related )
He also mumbled and kept calling back and called me names.
    Idiot even threatened me.
Once I had a free moment I blocked him.
    Problem solved.
    Good luck.
consider letting calls go to V.M. for awhile.

If you're a woman, then you'll need a male to answer the phone and calmly tell the guy that this is a wrong number. It could be your father/brother/etc, male friend, boyfriend/husband. Creeps like this probably get off on hearing a woman get annoyed and shit, and call because they know you'll pick up eventually.

If you're a man, you'll have to tell him off and probably threaten him a bit with police or something.

I had this happen to me and another female friend of mine in our early teens. Thankfully, my mom changed providers and I eventually got a new number; but my friend was unfortunate and was still getting calls. One of our male friends pretend to be her father and cursed the guy out, he never called again.

    • I'm guessing he borrowed friends' phones.

There has gotta be a way to block someone's number.

Have you tried picking up again and being very explicit that the number he has written down is not the correct number? He might think he misdialed the first time. It sounds like someone gave him a fake number to get rid of his annoying ass, but if you pick up next time and explain that XXX-XXXX is YOUR phone number and NOT the person he's trying to contact it may help.

If that doesn't work, get his primary number/s and make sure he starts getting a bunch of calls at all hours of the night, then change your number.

    • I've told him he has the wrong number like 3 or 4 times, but I didn't spell out the number. I can't even understand most of what he is saying because he mumbles so badly.

Next time you pick up it might be worth spelling out the number and explaining that he didn't just misdial, the number he has is completely wrong. From your descriptions it sounds like he's not trying to harass you, but he's maybe not completely home mentally. Maybe a habitual drug user. Spelling things out more explicitly might help him understand that continuing to dial your number won't help him get in contact with the person he's trying to contact.

There's a function called "block caller" or "block calls" on every phone these days...use it!

I had the same problem a few years back, I just set my phone to block unknown callers and never had the same issue ever again. If they do go through it goes right to the voicemail. It don't even ring or nothing.
