You can respond however you like, I’m just saying that type of abrasive response, diminishing and discrediting another person’s experience after you asked them to open up about something personal that may not be the most comfortable thing to talk about, is probably not going to encourage other people to open up to you. It’s probably going to have the exact opposite effect, if anything. I certainly wouldn’t discuss my psychiatric diagnosis if I knew that I would then have to justify it to them before they decided whether or not it was valid and real.
