Pick and choose.
I don't think anybody is this black and white. Most people agree with one side on a dozen things and just lump themselves in with them. Id say most reasonable people are centrist/Independent, who run each individual policy/issue through thier custom set of values and principles and then pick a side based on that rather than what other people on thier "side" are saying.
The Forefathers didnt want political parties, and they werent saints, or even good people, but they knew what would make a unified country. And a lack of political parties was the thing they stressed the most.
