    • A Violin and Fiddle are the same instrument.. It is literally the same thing... A fiddler and violinist however are two separate people though. A fiddler and violinist have different techniques when playing the violin/fiddle.

      • So what is the difference between a fiddler and a violinist?

        • I just told you.. It's the technique in which they play.. Fiddlers tend to play more double stops ,which means they play two strings at a time.

          • Okey dokey. I was thinking more in regards to music genre. Honestly, I don't even know what a double stop is. I just know when I think of a fiddler I think of folk music and rural people.

            • Music genre is a little part of it , and double stops are when you play two strings at the same time. The reason i know this is because in orchestra we are actually playing a fiddling piece and an orchestral piece.
