Mostly rock. I enjoy classic rock, 90's rock, some new rock, some alternative rock, some punk rock, and some metal too (so long as I can understand what they're singing and it's not about devil worshiping or something). I tend to really enjoy angry music though. It really makes me feel good to be pissed off at this stupid world sometimes. >:) Sometimes I just feel like getting wild and listening to some head-banging music, you know?
I also like some instrumentals. I like *very* few rap songs. I also like *very* few country songs. Fucking HATE dubstep. It just feels like there is no structure to it at all.
It makes me sick that dubstep has infested one of my favorite radio stations with it's horrible, ear-bleeding, brain-shattering (not in a good way), nonsense, garbage-inducing style. I heard a song playing on there the other day that was some kind of rock/dubstep hybrid and I almost vomited. Ugh.
Papa roach's song "Still Swingin" is a good example of what could have been a moderately good song being turned into crap because of those shitty dubstep elements that are thrown in. I'm just like really? Why you gotta do that Papa Roach, you used to be cool back in the day. I guess that's just what people want to hear though. FUCK YOU, PEOPLE!
In preparation for the incoming rage messages I will likely get for posting something like that about dubstep, I will say this:
1. This is my opinion. Deal with it.
2. I am a believer that there is good music to be found in all genres, and I'm sure that there might be *some* dubstep out there that I might enjoy, but the majority of it is crap.
I agree, there can be good music found across all genres. If it's good, I don't care what genre it falls under.
And I try not to discriminate against dubstep too much. My husband really likes it so I'm exposed to it quite a bit. But as much as I hate it, I will admit, occasionally I find myself enjoying it. But there is a time and place for dubstep. It's great for a dance party, but not morning chores. And watching small children dance to it is pretty entertaining.
But to answer the question, I have a rather eclectic taste in music. Much of my music will fall into the alternative/indie/folk rock category but I probably have something from every major genre that I adore.
What's your favorite type of music?

I think people might start getting concerned if I started spewing hate all over the place.
