I have tried to explain this to other users.
They will ignore you unless they're either really bored or you contribute to the conversation. It's like walking into a room full of people that are discussing something, if you just walk in there and try to shine the spotlight on yourself and talk about what you want to talk about, it will not be held in good regard and they will probably just shun you.
