I have used heroin on and off for 13 years. It is the most devastating thing I have ever experienced. It feels so incredibly good when you IV heroin, but it feels so terrible when you run out and have to go through opioid withdrawal. So, the fear from running out/going into w/d keeps you doing things to get more dope. You end up doing things you said you would never do. Then the guilt causes you to use more. It is a vicious nasty cycle.
Overall, heroin is my drug of choice. But, after the first use I lose the power of choice. Quite the little paradox.
P.S. - I have been sober for a little over ten months now :)
Wow that's incredible I wish you the best, I battled addiction for a little over a year but it couldn't have been anything compared to what you've gone through. I really hope you can stay on you're path of sobriety, you're amazing dude.
