What's with people constantly blaming everything on feminism?

  • They have obtained more things that have drastically soured male-female dynamics than you think. What's with the crazy notion that colleges suffer from a rape epidemic? What's with the wage gap lie? What's that whackiness about cultural appropriation? How come when a speaker who is openly gay, bangs only black dudes comes to your college to denounce this he gets censored, booed, called a Nazi homophobe etc?
Why are there cities where flirting with women can land you in jail if she felt repulsed by you?

        • A lot of bizarre things like this happen unrelated to feminism as well though..what use is it to focus on the small bits of negativity of the world?

          • That's a more than fair case to make, I just was confirming the validity since at first you said you never heard of these things

      • You never heard of Milo Yiannopoulos? Sure, I only know him from online videos but he is not a video game character. He went to all those places for real.

        • Yeah I've come across one of his interviews, he is an actor / social media personality from what I remember.
There is a lot of crazy shit in the news, I just don't see the point of identifying with any of it unless it affects your personal life.. seems too many people are getting caught up in the sensationalism

          • Well, If you enjoy any form of media feminism has affected you. Feminism has been pushed pretty much everywhere and whether people realize it or not it has affected them. whether it's that persons hobby or academia or work, expect feminism. Personally I have trouble thinking of something that hasn't had feminists try to change it.

            • How does enjoying media affect your real life in any meaningful way though, unless you let it? If you don't like what's on tv then watch something else. And sure there can be "feminism" in hobbies, academia, work, etc. but if you disagree then why let it bother you? In what way does it hinder you?

And Yes, they can "try" to change it..but so what? that is my point, they RARELY succeed at anything other than looking like psychos, so why feed into their BS by believing they have any power over you?

              • Well if you have no hobbies whatsoever, you don't study or work It might not affect you. and it's not really your choice if they decide to not hire you because they want a female diversity hire. It's not really your choice if you get fired for wrongthink or because you get discriminated against by affirmative action programs. If it was just people having opinions it wouldn't bother people so I don't think you get the point. People complain because it comes to them not the other way around. You cannot get away from it.

As for the trying to change things it does happen, and they succeed often enough to have real influence. Some examples are getting a google engineer fired for having a different opinion concerning feminism, Adria Richards getting 2 men fired for making jokes in at pycon because of feminist sensibilities. the womens outreach program for GNOME nearly bankrupting the project after having hired a treasurer they got through the program. Game developers changing games for feminist frequency's Anita Sarkeesian. constant pro feminist programs put up by the UN (usually led by whatever feminist happens to be in the news atm). Legal bias favoring women over men (in many ways, look it up) Transsexual men competing against women in sports and stealing prizes (example: a transsexual man beating up women in MMA: Fallon Fox). And these examples are just a small number that I could come up with off of the top of my mind.

Yes, feminism has influence in today's society and it is affecting everyone who has a life in some ways.
