What's the point of praying?

  • It's reassuring to people. Maybe they feel like they're getting it off their chest, and that it might be their only hope. If you believe in God and feel he can do something about their problem, then asking for something from him might not seem so futile to some, even if it is.

For example, when I lose something, I kind of half pray.:P Always over the most trivial of things. I'm not even religious either! I just run around in a frenzy saying "please God, where's my purse?! Help me! God damn it!":P And then I bargain, and say that if my purse pops up that I'll be a better person or something. Haha, it's *so* stupid. That is completely futile, especially because I'm a bloody atheist, so I don't know what good I expect it to do. I just do it when there's no other way to find the thing I'm looking for. It's sort of pointless, but it kind of helps. I really don't know why it would help me, though. And that's over unimportant things as well. I always overreact to the most frivolous things. God!

          • Haha, I noticed it. I kind of just make the assumption that everything you say to me now has "creepy intent":P. Maybe I don't want to indulge your creepiness, haha:P.
