  • Shots and supplements will give you the most b12.

I take B supplements. Without them, my lips get cut and cracked.

one of the signs of B12 deficiency is cracked tongue .

Oh I suffer from dry lips and eyes. They aren't cracked though, just so dry. Could it be B deficiency?

I honestly don't know. I had cracked lips for years. I just upped my b intake after a doctor recommendation and haven't had the problem since.

Fish can be a great option too. Tuna, salmon and more.

At first, animal products seems like the obvious choice for a Vitamin B12 source. But I am not sure if I can tolerate animal products. I have some really annoying digestive problems and I noticed a lot of improvement after going vegan, but maybe I was eating some really bad animal products in particular and that's what was making me sick.

Why beat around the bush with this question. If you wanna promote your vegan lifestyle go ahead. Don't make up a bullshit question and then use that to rebuff everyone and as springboard to promote veganism.

Why do you care what others eat anyway. *stuffs some bloody cow into her mouth.

"Why do you care what others eat anyway"

...as you criticise someone for their choice of diet.

FYI: vegemite does not have B12.

I wasn't beating around the bush and I did NOT make this post to promote veganism. I made this post because I am not sure how I should be getting Vitamin b12. If animal products really are the healthiest source of Vitamin B12, maybe I should stop being vegan.

Well you shouldn't be vegan for a myriad of reasons but as you already know animal products are really the only way to go for non fortified foods containing b-12.

sublingual absorption via supplementation because after age 50 most humans do not make binding transport intrinsic factor. Most doctors hear this one time 20 years ago and forget it after a good night's rest . the result is chronic b12 deficiency in the geriatric population. leading to an epidemic rise in neuropathies. causing an explosion of wealth amongst practitioners. cyano B12 the cheap kind is converted to both hydro, and methyl B12 so it treats the body and mind as it crosses the blood brain barrier. methyl B12 is the best for for treating neuropathy , as its doent have the cyanide component the body must cope with. you can guess by now i have neuropathy and self treat and diagnose

This question changed completely from it's original did it not? Still about b-12 but the question was totally rewritten.

Why do you make such stupid assumptions?

Do you have even a basic level of intelligence? Clearly, education doesn't come into play here, but education isn't everything.

Have...have you ever seen a jar of Vegemite?

Go look at the ingredients, genius. I'll wait.

Through food intake. If a doctor recommends supplement for deficiency, then take it. I take the B12 from Trader Joe's because the doctor said I'm deficient in B12 and D after blood tests.

    • Are you a vegetarian or vegan? I hear that the overwhelming majority of people deficient in B12 are actually omnivores.

        Nope.

I hadn't heard that, but vitamin deficiency is due to a range of issues.

    • Nickvey

right your doctor is an idiot because being deficient proves you can't absorb b12 . he was always an idiot. go to a real doctor and get a B12 shot before he kills you.

...yeah...so...I should just ignore the fact that it worked, because you said so?

Perhaps it was because I wasn't eating enough b12 foods at that time, genius.

Some people cannot absorb b complex vitamins, true. But a blood test can identify that.

        Jog on.

        Animal products. Unless you're vegan.

Edit: when I read your comments, I see that you are leaning to it. Kinda would have been helpful to put that shit in your initial post, dontcha think?

Why are you letting these companies rip you off with their "food based supplements"? What's wrong with a food based DIET? Cheaper and fresher

no matter what you eat it wont matter if you lack the ability to absorb it in food or tablet.
