    From what you sketched about your previous life, could it be perhaps lack of perspectives, a too narrow outlook? That life gave what it could give and then there was nothing more to go on?
    Now, there's nothing like 'creative drugs', that's crap. There are psychotropic drugs. Drugs that alter the mind, and if one's mind is already altered, as happens with depression, they will alter it much more and destabilize it much more, many a time to a point of no return, so better forget about that.
    Therapy can help up to a certain point, can be the little starter motor to get going your big own motor again, so you shouldn't enter on it thinking it will be the ultimate solution.
    I would recommend to you to have a basic check up. See about your blood counts and glucose levels. Get a healthy eating.
    And anyway, get in some ancient exercise holistic training like yoga, tai-chi, wu-shu. That will help without doubt.
