Physical appearance will always be the first thing that brings your attention to someone, male or female. However, personality is what keeps that attraction going.
So I would say you need to look somewhat good for someone to initiate their attraction to you, but even if you are the prettiest woman, if you have a terrible personality, they won't last long.
