Although it could entirely depend on when you die. Like if you get run over by a bus at the age of 24 then 12 was middle age for you which would suck because you were too young to enjoy a midlife crisis and buy a hot car and fuck your bosses wife.
Dying before your time doesn't count. Middle aged starts at around halfway to your natural life expectancy, like around the age where you would actually be said that you'd die of old age, which is around 80 or older. When people die before 80, it's usually from "something", such as a heart attack, stroke, cancer, etc., but it's not usually "just of old age" or natural causes. Like I said, middle age starts at around the halfway mark to your natural life expectancy. I think middle aged is roughly between 40 and 60. You rarely anymore call someone 50-something old age.
