What's everyone's thoughts on caffeine addictions?

I was just thinking about how caffeine addictions in a lot of people aren't taken seriously - my sibling has to have around 4 tsp of instant in one cup just so they don't have extreme headaches throughout the day, and have to have multiple (usually 5-6) cups of this. I find it weird, considering almost every other addiction is taken seriously in most cases.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • everyone's got their addictions, it's just that some are a little less destructing than others. some people get drunk and shit in the baby's crib. some people smoke, some people work constantly, and some people obsess over god. generally, people don't care what you do if you don't hurt others, yourself, or whatever.

That's why I never started drinking tea or coffee, I don't wanna become dependent on it. Plus it'd just be another inconvenience, like if I ever went anywhere I'd have to think of how I'd be able to get my tea/coffee.

It isn't taken seriously because it makes people more efficient and generally has no repercussions. If your sibling has physical issues with it, he/she shouldn't partake. Most people do fine and would not want to be without.

It should be taken seriously but because drinking coffee is such a part of many cultures it isn't.
I stopped consuming caffeine when i was about 20 in an attempt to sleep better. I drank coffee (and tea which had caffine, i don't know what thats called , black tea?) every day since i was a young teenager.
I never went bacķ except once when i was offered a cup by an old friend who i didn't want to offend ( he was old school and would have thought I'd turned wierd if I'd said I'd stopped) this was a terrible experience. I hadn't had any caffine for more than 5 years when i drank it i became very jittery and a bit shaky, i felt terrible, i had to hamg around longer than i wanted because i wasn't confident that i could drive properly until the effects wore off.
Anyway , I'm sure you can find a book on quiting online. I don't know but Allen Carr, author off Allen Carr's easy way to stop smokimg, probably has written one.

I have been addicted to caffeine many times. Have you ever noticed when you get addicted to lots of coffee that it starts to make you tired when you drink it?

Caffeine addiction rarely has very negative side effects, and there are perceived positive side effects (more productive, push through a task - instead of taking a break for a short nap).

I'm not actually aware of any study that backs up the overall productivity benefit claim for caffeine. There are studies that back up that on average longer tasks can be completed more quickly by minimizing breaks.

I'm convinced it has no affect on me, I once drank a shot of pure concentrated caffeine (about 11 of those plastic bowl packs that say "no more then 2 uses a day") & felt nothing afterwards. I wasn't hyper, awake, jittery nor did my heart race, It was like drinking water to me.
