I have always been interested in what America is like from movies and shows, as it looks really exciting and varied and free. My sister is obsessed and wants to move there, and for me to come with her, but I don't know if it's safe, or what it's like in reality.
I know life in Bulgaria and England. In Bulgaria the countryside is beautiful, and makes your heart feel floaty, and the food is so good too. In cities like Sofia people are kind of blunt but in the countryside they're warm, and it's cheaper to buy land. Fruit and vegetables are of the best quality, especially tomatoes, and the architecture in Sofia is cool too, with Eastern Orthodox influences and pretty parks. The Paradise mall has literally everything to do. However, the pavements are super bumpy and infrastructure isn't the best. Winters and summers are extreme polar opposites, which is a plus for some and a minus for others. I like how there are still celebrated traditions everywhere like Baba Marta, and old style music. Many don't drink the tap water in the capital, but Vitosha has really clean drinking water, which is basically in Sofia.
England for me is greyer if that makes sense. People are polite but keep to themselves, unless you're in the North, where they're really friendly. The quality of fruit and vegetables is definitely not as good. The infrastructure is pretty good, the school systems, drinking water, hospitals, and well built streets. London is super interesting but expensive to purchase items and food, and the rate of violent crime has increased by a lot recently, which is sad. The countryside isn't as dramatic, and the seasons are pretty much all mild and grey, there are rarely ever extreme temperatures. But Wales and the North of England have really beautiful countryside, some rolling, some mountainous, some serene and flowered. The villages are fairytale like.

America is so big it just depends where you go and what you're looking for. If you go to New York you're gonna get very blunt, fast talking, street smart people. If you go to the south you're gonna get laid back slow talking polite people. Idk about midwest or west I've never been.
I dont drink tap water. Its safe but taste luke chlorine.
Where i live crime is high in the city but not outside it. Big cities are way more dangerous.

Here in Southern California it's a mixed bag LA is shit but there are some good areas even in the bad ones you have people who say that California is a socialist hellhole but I've lived here my whole life and can confirm that it's not socialist or a hellhole. my hometown San Bernardino is boring the only time things are fun is when Route 66 happens or if the local gangs act up but that's normally at night in the visibly ghetto areas. I currently live in the Rancho Ontario Chino Upland Montclair Pomona areas(I'm not saying where pacifically but I move a lot). Rancho is nice Ontario is ok it has some ghetto spots but it's not that bad again unless your in certain areas at night Pomona is claiming down but is still ghetto upland is nice Montclair is ok chino smells like cow shit. I've been in Northern California and it's also not that bad I've been out of state and it tends to varie America has a shit ton of problems but it could be worse rather be here then anywhere else.
I mean it's a very big country, you'd be better to ask "what is (insert name of particular state) like?" Because if you move to New York you will have a dramatically different experience than if you moved to Arizona. If you are from say Germany the state of Texas is larger than your entire country, and the state of Alaska is over half the size of all of europe. So really you gotta look at each individual state as it's own country.

America is a very large country, very deverse in people and culture. you can find anything you desire, do anything you want as long as it is within the law. I have lived in America all my life, been to other countries and places, yet there is no place like America. large cities small towns, and rural areas like no other.

It is so varied. I have spent most my life on the west coast. People are more laid back here than on the East coast. Things are faster and sometimes come across as assholes. While the west may appear less sincere and fake. Likely a result of hollywood itself. The midwest is apologetically kind at times and the south will be extremely polite while telling you to go fuck yourself.
This of course changes from urban to rural settings.
As for landscape, we have it all. Mountain towns, sprawling cities, desert oasis, forests, oceans, lakes, plains, my god Nebraska seems to never end. And South Dakota looks like an alien world. Red rocks in the desert look magical. Blue ridge mountains are picturesque in the fall. The rust belt of Ohio and Pennsylvania can seem dreary in the cold of winter. And the boarded us streets of sad town USA look the same regardless of season. Truly something for everyone.
I am in the Pacific Northwest. It is green all year round and people really enjoy outdoor adventure. Summer brings many campers. But in rains 9 months out of the year. However the other side of those majestic Volcanoes is a high desert. Beautiful in its own right. But extremely rural and few towns of any size. The people are more conservative in rural areas. The costs are liberal with a few pockets in the middle.
People like cars and technology. Our food culture is abysmal. But some places are okay.

I was in the US in Alaska for like a year and a half and it wasnāt a very good experience lmao. Everyone was just straight mean and complained way too much. Drug addiction was really really bad there, I really hope they can get help. Also the only people to ever be angry or mean about me not speaking their language have been Americans.
Iāve visited New York City and used to visit Boston a lot as a kid with my dad but he only let me around other Russians while I was there so I canāt speak for those people. New York was too dirty but Boston was cool. I really liked Boston.
I think the best thing about Americans is their āstate prideā, Black women, and that they seem to really know how to be wealthy.
Canāt say much else about America, I wish Americans luck but I donāt want them anywhere near me lmao.

I thought Boston was clean, and the law enforcement was very friendly and the buildings were cool. There was a ferry that was really cool too.

Most people i know have medium paying jobs. There are a lot of wealthy doctors though. Yes theres a lot to do in the cities! I recommend somewhere coastal. I love Maine and New England. Most people are pretty friendly its not weird to just talk with strangers...Pennsylvania is pretty, mountains and farms.
Where i live it gets pretty cold in winter, but not usually too much snow. Spring and autumn are nice, but short. The summers can be very humid.
All different religions, many are some form of Christian or " non committal ". Nobody forces it on you.
Where i live people are more conservative but in the west coast they are liberal. Im not very political myself.
I suggest your sister and you read about different states and see what weather/ attractions appeal to you.
Most Americans enjoy meeting people from other countries.
Also, what are schools there like? They look so fun and well equipped in the movies
School quality differs with region. Inner city or hick schools can be poor quality but mine were decent. But almost all colleges are decent. Yes, people do enjoy the college culture. A lot of kids do sports in school or other activities. My son enjoys school hes 14. They are not as obsessive/ strict as say, france. Some kids are home-schooled but its not common.

What kinds of ideas do you and your sister have about it?
My sister goes on about how it seems so varied, like one united country with many different states, beautiful wildlife and landscapes, the houses are bigger, people are loud and friendly, and good looking.
I imagine from the movies I have seen that there are so many different cities, with both cool townhouses and skyscrapers, and there's things going on always. And the laws on what you are allowed to do are less strict, so it's free. The North West looks so cool to me, with serene landscapes and seaside towns.
And it's so young and grew so quickly too. The pioneer history always sounded cool to me, if not a little crazy. There are gold mine ghost towns, deserts, mountains, cults, villages, religious sects, beautiful small towns in the Midwest and rolling countryside. You can buy houses for less money too, and I'm always shocked how much cheaper land is, and how houses of a size that would be considered for the rich here are normal/working class over there. And city life looks so exciting! Especially in the movies and shows. Actually, I just realised I'm obsessed myself XD

America doesn't seem to have much culture other than people going out and buying stuff they do not need, with money they don't have, to try to impress people they do not even like.
Put it this way - the two MOST American holidays we have are Thanksgiving and July 4th (independence day). Retailers have mostly ruined Thanksgiving by having a "special" shopping day on the Friday right after (aka "black Friday")
Any culture America has or had, retailers have commercialized it so there isn't much left except constant ads, buy this or that, whatever.

The american experience, (like most other countries) depends largely on how much money you make. Less is more, but not when you are at poverty level.
