im writing a book and cant choose what to name my characters
These are my first impressions with the names alone.
Roger likes sports
Tommy is comic relief
Billy is a lovable redneck
Stacey is a journalist if male- as a female, she is bubbly and outgoing
Liam is the straight man
Lenora is passionate, maybe a singer
Mary goes unnoticed
Karen is a lawyer- or perhaps a teacher
Johnny is a cop or in law enforcement
Michelle is everybody's sweetheart
Ethan is a frat boy and is probably cheating on his girlfriend
I like Lenora Jones because it's unique and interesting. I'm writing a book too and my character's name is Alisa Caraway. If you end up not using Lenora Jones, can I use that name as Alisa's friend's name? Lenora is such a pretty name!
Anyways, good luck with your book!
These are my impressions of the names, bearing in mind that I'm a Brit, so maybe have a different take on names than those of you from the States...oh and bearing in mind I'm probably a bit weird.
Lenora Jones - if white either posh or trashy, not in between; if black then a circumspect office worker.
Roger Williams - middle aged pillar of local government.
Karen Mills - highly competent.
Mary Howardson - either over 70 and calm or under 20 and shy.
Stacey Washington - if female then an airhead beautician; if male then an artist and very used to explaining that Stacey can be a male name (not usual in UK).
Liam Wells - salesman or junior management.
Michelle Richardson - single mum, shop assistant.
Ethan Adams - a bit rakish - arty but good in a fight.
Tommy McFariss - a boy-next-door type or a bumbling old man.
Billy Anchorman - a flash wannabe.
Johnny McGregor - a farmer.
So if you're writing a thriller, I'd go for Karen Mills. If you're writing gentle romance, Tommy McFarris and Mary Howardson, etc. etc.
Anyway, good luck with it.
