What might my dream mean?

I had a dream that i was back at my parents house and one of my old roommates was there with me for some reason. she was taking care of grey and dark grey spotted pitbull. the pitbull was in a cage in my parents' cluttered garage and when we opened the garage, she and I noticed that the pitbull had removed or scatched out one of his eyeballs. i was panicking and i opened the cage and the dog came out and i began to comfort it and prevent it from freaking out even more because it was in shock. i was petting his head and trying to calm him down and then he subsequently plucks out his second eye and is now completely blind. i was extremely concerned at this point as i looked into the dogs distressed, empty eye sockets. i am going crazy at this point and freaking out like i never have before. worried so much about the dog's wellbeing and health and then the dog begins to bite his own stomach and sides. i then woke up.. i've been having very disturbing and real dreams lately.. does this have any sort of symbolism?
