Because my mum and dad have a holiday home in the south of Spain so it seemed sensible to me to learn the language for 2 reasons.
1) communicating with locals
2) respect
If immigrants come to the United Kingdom I expect them to have at least a smattering of English conversational ability, so it's only fair to do the same in reverse when going abroad.
What languages do you speak?
