I'm the kind of person who makes things harder for herself by procrastinating and being indecisive. So deadlines are a necessary evil for me. If I could I'd like to take the path of least resistance.
It's always better to be decisive even if you turn out to be wrong a few times (or all the time in the experience of others at work). The image of decisiveness carries a lot more weight than getting things right. I've seen managers rise to the top on a string of poor decisions that were stated with pure commitment and seen the people below them correcting their mistakes for years after. Depends which side of that coin you want to be on.
