What is your myers-briggs personality type?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, take this quiz here. http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp -- yes, it's 72 questions long but worth it, trust me.

You may have known someone all your life but their result might be able to tell you new/accurate/revelationary thigns about them. I've shared this with many people and while nearly all of them have spoken highly about it, I'm always curious to hear more opinions and results on it.

After you get your result and vote, you can read more about your result (3 categories at the bottom of each result = career, relationships etc) here: http://personalitypage.com/html/portraits.html

    The Myers Briggs system is the most well-respected method for categorizing personality types. However (and that's a big however), most laypeople don't know how to take the test for accurate results; they take it based on their current circumstance and feelings rather than on their core nature and temperament. Not only that, most don't realize that the typing is based on a "spectrum" with a lot of variation within each category and type. The percentages mean something. Carl Jung (another well respected psychologist) further elaborated on the MBTI, putting forth that each category can either be an 'extroverted' or 'introverted' trait; meaning, the characteristics of the trait can either be applied outwardly towards others, or inwardly and internalized towards the self.

    Some people take it too seriously too and live by it like a rule, which is taking it too far. It is strictly a guideline for understanding the personality of one's self as compared with others. Some say that it's nothing more than another form of astrology, but that is nonsense and they probably don't know any of the research that when into creating it.

    For myself, over the past ten years, I have continuously typed as an INTP.
    IN(i)T(i)P(e)
    Introversion=62% / Extraversion=38%
    Intuition=89% / Sensing=11%
    Thinking=58% / Feeling=42%
    Perceiving=74% / Judging=24%

      True. As a psychology student, I can tell you that many people in the field see it as only somewhat better than horoscopes, while some view it as useful but overused. Then there's always the Forer Effect.

    I find it interesting that so many IIN members are INTJ.
    I thought that INTJ's were supposedly one of the rarest.
    Am I mistaken?

    Does IIN just seem to attract INTJ's?

    This time I got ENFJ. I don't always get ENFJ; I sometimes get I, T or P instead of E, F and J.

    I think it's somewhat interesting, but the whole thing is flawed because I think most people can identify with something in most of the descriptions. How you answer depends a lot on how you feel on the day. 72 questions might seem like a lot, but I don't know if it's enough to measure something as complex as a person. I think the best way to use the Myers-Briggs test is as a tool to help your wider project of thinking introspectively. Take it with a pinch of salt and don't be afraid to criticize it.

    It seems every time I take a test like this I get different results. I can't see them as being accurate, if they don't have consistent results.
    I'll stick to astrology; it's just as valuable as this Hocus Pocus.

    • I've gotten different results every time too. I'm not going to bother taking the test again. Many of the questions reflect current mood rather than a consistent personality.

    I think Myers Briggs is a good way to speed read people. Usually 50% of the description for a personality seems to apply. You can get more details as you get to know the person.

    i've taken it twice, years apart, got intj both times

    according to the last poll that asked this, majority of IINers are intj as well, then again You could say that's just the majority of people who actually bother to take the test.

  • Last time I got INTP, this time I got INTJ.

    But then again the whole thing fails due to it working on how you view yourself. Someone might think they do things based off of one of the answers when it is the complete opposite.

    It would have more weight to it if someone that knew you filled it our for you while anonymous.
