A secret is something you don't share.

Okay. My best guess is that you are afraid your father will someday abandon you if he finds out. Am I right?

        No! That sounds pretty stupid.

Hmmmmm, now I'm extremely intrigued. Your secret fear is the key to your weirdness (and to your greatness). And, it is so intense that it is locked in mental chains. Sometimes it may masquerade as other things, like fear your cat will die, or fear of God. But these are stupid things. The actual fear is the key to your mind. It makes you tick.

You're making a very poor case for disclosure.

I'm telling it like it is. In doing this, I know that I am actually making disclosure less likely. But that's okay. You and your therapist working together will probably accomplish more than we, the misfits of IIN, could anyway.

Btw, my greatest fear is that I will not be able to handle the mounting despair of old age. Despite a career of unrivaled successes, and privileged opportunity, I can see that the extremely poor judgement of my parents was three strikes against me before I even hit puberty. I've always lived by deciding to do what was right. But now I can see that much of my life was wrong. A bit like Tolstoy's novel, "The Death of Ivan Illich". Dealing with this regret is overwhelming sometimes.

    Being poor.

That would be the pinnacle of failing. I would have nothing to live for. To lose everything I've worked hard for, all the joy, all the pride - gone. I would have no money to help my parents, no woman would want a broke man and nobody would respect me. No cars. No whiskey, no nothing. Just misery...

So yeah, biggest fear - being poor.

One of the best things about being poor is the amount of freedom you have. It seems counterintuitive, but when I was homeless and broke, I was the most free I've ever been.

I’m in Omaha Nebraska. I hate this time of year and the cold. On top of everything else I’m broke and won’t be able to drink until I get paid again. It’s just not my day lmao

I can't say it's something I fret about, but I think one of the worst things that can happen to someone is Total Locked-In Syndrome. You're conscious, and all your senses work normally, but you're unable to move.

There have been cases where people have been believed to have been in a coma for years before it's been discovered that they were been conscious the whole time.

Locked-In Syndrome is almost as bad: you can only blink and move your eyes vertically.
