Cars! Surely this is art right?

A lot of people will say cars can't be art, but a lot of art is inspired by animals, nature, things in real life, concepts, etc... It starts off as a blank canvas, or a slab of stone and is then shaped into the artist's vision.
Cars are designed in the same way, with the same passion and also take inspiration from the world around us. Some cars are inspired by fish, birds, cats, or other man-made objects.

If photography can be art (copying already existing images), so can cars.

Cars are also performance art. In the words of prof. Jeremy "Jezza" Clarkson: "Cars literally move you".

To be fair, saying photography is just copying preexisting images is like saying painting is just relocating preexisting paint onto a canvas. There's a lot of technique involved in professional photography.

BTW, I agree that cars can totally be art, in the same way architecture can. I would say it doesn't count as art if the designer focuses almost entirely on the practical aspects rather than the aesthetics - you wouldn't call a very plain concrete parking garage art, but a beautiful, creatively shaped skyscraper could be.

Hahahaha oh my gosh! This comment tickled me so much & I laughed. My fiance loves cars & I love marine biology (specifically sharks) & we had this long, long conversation, where I was telling him how sharks are just like cars- specifically aerodynamically honed by years of evolution to based on the environment & what they need to do- power vs speed vs dexterity

Oceanic sharks - rarely come upon prey & must strike quickly from a distance- narrow, pointy nosed, missile shaped bodies- like f-1 face cars

Hammerheads - head shaped like plane wings for an ability to turn on a dime using their flat head to steer.

      Barracudas like a vector v2

Reef sharks with a narrow snout made to get in small spaces...

We were going all crazy lol

It's soooo cool to know that this is a REAL thing!

Glad I can provide some entertainment with my carguy-ness XD

Fun fact, the first picture I posted, it's my 635CSI BMW and it's called "the Shark", or "Shark in a tuxedo" among the BMW community.
Take a close look at that front end and you quickly get a hint why they call it a shark.
My E-class, 2nd picture was designed under supervision of Bruno Sacco (The greatest Mercedes designer). Every Mercedes made from the mid 70s to the mid 2000s was designed by the legend himself. Nowadays Mercedes don't have the same soul and beauty they did when Bruno Sacco was at the drawing board.

Anyway, back to Jaws... I love watching documentaries on sharks. They are among the best predators, but they are much more than teeth and a desire to kill. Sharks are actually quite intelligent, can remember people, can become depressed, have different personalities and even like to be petted... They can be rough even when trying to be gentle, but you can't really blame them, they have evolved to be an apex predator.

The classics are always appreciated by me. I hate "modern" art, by modern I mean any of this new age zero work crap art that you can bullshit the meaning of in the presentation. True art such as landscapes convey instant feelings without having it spoon fed to you.

Portrat and landscape art. None of that abstract zero work modern art crap. I like the classical works of art. What ever happened to painting a bowl of fruit?! That shit is always in style.

Also I really really want a nice painted portrait of my future family. Something to hang over the hearth.

I'm really into 2D animation. I love watching films in this style to critique the way it was created, reflect it on my own skills, and possibly learn a thing or two

I like art that angers common people in museums and elicits the response, "I could have done that!"

I think expressionism, there are of course a lot more that I like but that’s my fave
Is there btw a certain term for the modern genre of drawing, like drawing characters but not like character design itself? When drawing people as fantasy creatures or in cool scenarios or stuff. And it’s not quite surrealistic, you’d need to put more into that to go there. Maybe I know the name but yeah I like how in modern times most of the old art forms kinda collided or are very varied

I love normal art that looks like pictures but have hidden things in them that if you look just right you'll notice and wonder if it was a mistake or meant to be snuck in

Women being bound, gagged, kidnapped, all other types of BDSM shit. Lesbian is good but not great, women being forced to pee and shit themselves is best.
