If I were God for just one day I would make the flesh of dogs, and cats poisonous to human beings during one of their stupid festivals. It would be awesome, and it just might solve the overpopulation problem! 😊

Meat is meat. It is only bad because of the attachment you place on the specific animal and your social conditioning. Vegetarianism aside, all animals have the potential to be consumed by humans, or revered. Cows are a perfect example of this mindset that makes humans place a stamp of approval on what animals are ok to eat, and which ones are not. I do not condone the eating of my beloved pets, but what I view as a pet is not universal law.

I honestly don't eat that much meat, I could probably go vegetarian quite easily if I felt so inclined, but not not full vegan.

Regardless I prefer random dogs and cats to the sort of people who would eat them.

I don't think it's racist to not want to see dogs and cats get eaten. Festivals that celebrate people eating dogs and cats are stupid.

Yuzu! From Japan (originated in a China/Tibet, but primarily grown for commercial use in Japan and some in South Korea)

Thanks for enriching my life! Haha. We have another fruit here in Brazil, JatobΓ‘, which falls into similar category. It's stinky and green and it feels like you're eating corn starch, but light green colored.

This explains it better than I can:

Thanks, that's how I feel about fruit and complaints too! Hahaha! :D I love jackfruit but I'd never heard of those uses, I just eat the raw fruit - although most people here utterly dislike it! I'm so curious about durian, that's why I asked. I want to try it in loco if possible. Thailand has been bumped up on my destination wish list because of this post!

Mmm... it's so hard to describe taste, isn't it? I'm trying to think about anything similar and I just can't. What crossed my mind was dragon fruit as the closest, yet it's still so far! In fact, dragon fruit to me is more similar to kiwi than anything else because of the little crunchy seeds. I don't know where you live but if you can't actually get the fruit you can taste it (and it's a pretty accurate and natural taste) in some Japanese canned juices. Some even have little pieces of it and you can also experience the consistency of it. It's delightful!

I'm surprised OP never mentioned Durian. I, of course, have never had Durian. All I know is that apparently it's very popular in Southeast Asia and that a lot of people think it smells.

Not only 'think', it does smell and it is banned in public transportation, hotels and such! I'd love to try it one day, though!
