The word slut wasn't made as an offensive term, it was just to explain a woman that has sex a lot, etc. It's today's society that has made the word "slut" a term to be ashamed of. Kind of like the word bastard, it was used to describe a child born to an unmarried couple, most people are born like that now, and it's "turned" in to an insult word.
Secondly. I just want to say this part lastly. It's mainly women that call other women sluts, not men calling women sluts. I have not seen a man call a woman a slut ever, but I have constantly heard females call other females a slut. I hate that women are blaming men for the word being used to describe women that have sex a lot in a negative manner, when it is women doing it to eachother. So yes, people need to stop judging them, specificly other women need to stop doing it.
They are allowed to be "sluts" if they want, not anybody elses choice. Nothing wrong with it either. But understand it's females usually saying it to other females.
I am aware, but I see both genders do it equally. Understand I want to be fair towards both the sexes and how they are represented. I believe the word slut actually is why men are thought of as pigs who do nothing but fuck other women too. I think the word slut has really caused sexism for both races.
Wrong, really, just wrong. I have not seen one man call a woman a slut, where as I have seen countless females call eachother a slut, and I have moved to several locations, so I know it isn't just one certain area. The word "slut" means woman that basically has sex with a lot of people. Is it bad to be a slut? No. But as plainly seen from here, guys like "sluts", and given that slut is now seen to as n insult, not just a description, males are less likely to call a girl that has something they like about her, something that would insult her.
It isn't equal if you are saying both genders do it equally when one gender does it more than the other. It would be as equal as me saying that both genders are equal on how many murderers there are in both genders...That isn't equal at all, because the female gender doesn't have as much murderers in their gender as males do, so saying they're equally bad as the ones that are actually worst for doing such a thing isn't equall at all.
The word slut wasn't made for an insult, it was a word to describe a woman with a lot of sexual activity, not a word to be used for ghate. Where as comparing men to pigs is an insult.
The words slut has definetly caused sexism for both genders, mainly de to women saying it so much and then blaming men for it.
I actually think this is a very logical answer. Thank you for this.
I guess with slut, it is as you said, not a bad thing, but has been altered to become something horrible. It's why I don't like it. Slut now means someone who is a shitty person for enjoying sex, and as you said, there's nothing wrong with being a slut, but when you hear the world slut you usually are hearing people disregaurding someone for being a sexually active person.
The more I think of it, the more I hear women use it as an insult during a pety argument. So I agree that I need with you, the more I think this over. I still would rather not use the word myself, and I still find this post to be pretty sexist. I know problems for sexism are brought up by both genders, since I see both genders buy into stereotypes, especially females who like to say they prefer to befriend boys because females are "too dramatic" for them. So I'll admit I was acting stupid with what I said, and I appreciate your comments. It's nice to argue with people who don't agree with my viewpoints that are at least intelligent about it so that I am given a chance to understand why they believe what they believe and give me a chance to debate with them.
I agree, this poll is sexist. It's the way they have presented theword "slut" that gives it an insulting feel to it. I wouldn't use the word myself to be honest, because I know that most of the world see it as an insult rather than a word to describe such a woman. Don't worry, you weren't being stupid. We all sometimesneed to discuss things in order to understand a little bit more.
Thanks for your calm contribution to out discussion, it's something quite rare on this site nowadays. It'll be nice to have someone like you on this site.
I wonder at the psychology of that. I know in my more repressed Christian days I would find myself thinking of girls as sluts and have since changed my views completely. Having a lot of sex is only bad if the person is being unsafe about it or doing it from an unhealthy place, in which case they need help not judgement.
But Ive often wondered if it generally is the more repressed women bashing the women who are open about their sexuality because they wish they could do the same thing. Thats what it was for me, I was so afraid of what I wanted that I violently opposed it. (Haha, I hope that doesnt make it sound like I dress trashy cause I definitely dont)
Its funny to see this up here today, I just made a post last week about this kinda thing and how my views are unconventional. :P
I kind of took notice to it when astory like this came up about a month ago, during thesame time someone on Facebook was saying to me that certain females she knows are "sluts". And thenI started to take notice to how many females actually call other females sluts, yet theblame for it gets shifted to men.
In all my experience only one guy ever told me he was slutty, and it was funny seeing a big guy back down from a small girl when I had something to say in repsonse. XD
What is your attitude toward sluts?

It's not actually that suprising. It's morally incorrect nowadays to even stand up to a woman, even in self defense if you're a man.
