  • I just can't imagine that there is a higher purpose to human existence. We are just a freak of evolution, nothing more. We live, we procreate, we die, like every other living thing. Hopefully it's a good life, full of happiness and love.

    • If we are simply material beings made of atoms and composed of nothing more than that (time+matter+chance), why would it matter that we live 'a good life, full of happiness and love'?

      • Doesn't the quality of the life you have matter to you at all?

        • Of course it does matter to me... and to you.

But if you believe you are simply composed of atoms and nothing more (i.e. a belief or world view of absolute materialism) why in a bigger sense does it matter at all that you live a good life?

    • For many it's a life of poverty, disease, and war.
