It was for a school travel program. I also remember that our little tour bus had just enough heat to keep the front window clear of ice but the inside windows were caked in ice as we drove around on pure ice. We sat in each other's laps to keep warm. I try to remember that experience when I complain about being cold.
It was a pretty rural area and I'm not sure how people heated their homes. The restaurants in the area had little space heaters at the tables and were only open a few hours a day. Not many had vehicles. I was quite impressed with the people who rode bicycles on the ice. They didn't even have tires for their bikes, just the metal rims!
What is the coldest temperature you've been exposed to?
