If you're that easily pissed by comments that were not insulting or anger-inducing in the slightest (as I read them, too), that's yet more proof that you do care.
"Making it clear to them that you don't care by being a complete asshole" makes absolutely no sense and is completely unproductive. Not caring = indifference. Going out of your way to be an asshole = caring.
If you really "don't care", you wouldn't be trying so hard to convince everyone of that, and shouting it from the mountaintops.
