It sucks. Cramps, constantly worrying about bleeding through your clothes (you'd be surprised how easily this can happen), that gross feeling when you wake up and need to change your pad/tampon/etc. and hoping you didn't bleed on your sheets, feeling light headed, irritable, and just achey and painful. If you have heavy periods, it's a nightmare. I take birth control to at least keep it under control.
Oh, and this part might be TMI, but when you stand up or move and you can feel a large amount of blood just flow out. It's awful.
What is it like to have a period?

I also get hungrier than usual.

My favorite is when you sneeze or cough and feel the blood flow. Just awful.
