What is everyone doing to keep busy during these lock downs?

I have found 14 ghetto / hood movies and am watching them. Might clean my garage tomorrow. Have been drinking more beer then usual.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

i had a buncha tools & supplies & crap in my garage stored in old file cabinets that were rusted out from before i fixed the foundation

the cabinets were cheap & shitty to begin with and the junk inside was largely decayed from me not really touchin it for at least a decade

i scored some stanley vidmar cabinets off craigslist recently

everythin got swapped out and the file cabinets & a good bita the crap went to the dump today

also gearin up to clear some land

Be extra careful with your land-clearing. The last thing you want is to hurt yourself and have to visit ER at the moment.

Since the corona thing exploded, UK hospitals have seen a decrease of at least 20% in the number of people attending Accident and Emergency (what we call ER here). Charitable people say that's because people aren't doing sport and doing less DIY, so people aren't showing up with sprains and holes they've drilled in their own hand. I'm with those who say it indicates just how many so-called "medical emergencies" are nothing of the sort, and people are currently tending to take care of their own minor problems.

I'm gonna put some music on my old receiver (good one from back in the 70's 80's that are made from metal and have the big silver metal volume nobs) drink beer and sort out my garage. I usually rub my tools down with wd40 every 6 months.

Ill have a look soon but it is a onkyo receiver I think form the early 80s.
Hay, you a person who respects quality vintage audio like me.
          Best is mirantz (spelling)

I'm using a cd player connected through me receiver but I would love to have a good quality tape deck that fits the time frame.

That amp you have is dope.

Onkyo is quite close quality-wise with Marantz.

With my SX-60, I did have to replace the lamps for the volume control.

And oh yes, I am a vintage audio equipment junky.
My FAVORITE piece is the Realistic equalizer model 31-2020. Fully analog, 10 bands, adjustable spectrum analyzer with three different color LED's, and it accomodates two tape decks. I could go on for days about it.

NOW you are going to hate me -

My better tape deck, I found it for $8 at a thrift store, it needed only minor service like head/pinch roller cleaning, speed calibration, and azimuth alignment, all which I did. Yeah I have an electronics hobby. The tape deck - Nakamichi Cassette Deck Two. $8. I have NOT heard a better sounding deck. And it was in practically perfect condition other than the minor maintenance.

Though that deck came out in the early 90's, I could not resist. If you shop thrift, keep an eye out cause sometimes decks show up, and sometimes they actually work.

The only modern piece in my system is the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB turntable, made in 2019 or 19. I just did not feel comfortable getting a vintage one off ebay. Plus it has all the bells and whistles and the inner-groove distortion isn't real bad

I like to see a fellow "single slat" setup, none of this everything built in hifi shit.
I had a nice equaliser but it went to heaven.

Yeah you like me, I repair audio gear. I'm in love with receivers with a wood body and a metal front with the original green lights.

I have a single slat radio that needs pre amp and receiver. I put it away but it has the nice metal front, real nobs and green lit.

I want a receiver that has the 2 vu needles lit wieh green light. Man they don't make em like they used to.

The speakers bro. you have to have 2 thats it. They need to be made from real wood and the cabinets need to be large and full of sound dampening. Bass hole works if done properly

Our life hasn't changed a huge amount, since neither my wife or I work outside of our home, we stocked up in advance of the mobs and we home-educate our twelve year-old daughter.

She's continuing with a study routine that's the same as it has been for the last four years, but she's not going out for Scouts, Youth Theatre and her two archery sessions every week. To compensate for that lack of social interaction, she's doing a lot of face-time with her friends as they play online games. (I suspect much of the time they're ganging up to grief gullible five-year-olds playing various crappy Roblox games, but I've avoided asking questions.)

I rarely go outside anyway so my life's barely changed honestly, I'm just reading and watching tv. Only now I have more time for it so I'm loving it tbh (obviously I'm not saying that I don't wish the virus would soon die out though).

I just finished decarboxylating some trim, and now I'm making cannabutter. I'm going to make CBD brownies for my cervical spondylosis, and myofascial pain, and chocolate fudge to go on top of the brownies. I will be using cannabutter on both.

An arthritic back ain't no joke. I should probably get back into yoga again.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos, pray the Rosary, and call a few people that I know so we can support each other. I've also been cleaning up around my home.
