What is a normal response when someone is having a bad day?

Just wondering, I work as a cashier at a gas station. So like whenever I help a customer and get done. They usually will say after it, “Hope you have a good one” or “have a nice rest of your day” or something along those lines? I’m ok with that, they’re being nice I suppose? What if it’s the opposite? What if they say it to me? And I’m really having a terrible horrible crappy day? Then what happens? What would be a good response to say to someone with “Have a Good Day” but you’re really having the worst day of your life????

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Keep your personal issues out of the work place and don’t mention them to customers to begin with. The answer is don’t do anything different.

    Common sense.

If you feel like you're lying and really need to express how shit it's going "Thanks, I'll try, same to you" seems good enough.

"Take care, now" is pretty standard.

I wouldnt worry about it those bye statements are just like a script everyone says when they leave. Usually I say

    "good luck with it"

    "Alright now"

    "Ill see ya later"

    "Peace"

    "Have a good one"

My brain chooses one of those at random to blurt out

I’ve started using: “It can only get better from here” or “It can only move upwards from here.” Think that one makes more sense for me to use?
