Almost impossible for me. I say "fuckin'" mid-sentence all the time, completely automatically. Once, at the lowest point, I told my friends they were "going off their tits on some dumb shit" without even recognizing I'd said something slightly weird. Even when I'm with my parents I probably swear a dozen times a day. I am trying to cut it down because sometimes it impedes communication or limits the number of people who are comfortable communicating with me, but swearing can be fun and expressive as well and it can break down unhelpful taboos.
If I didn't drink for a year, I reckon I could do it. For a month or two it would take constant self-monitoring though, and I might slip up singing songs with naughty words in them.
What if you were dared to not cuss for a whole year? Could you do it?
