What hope do i have as a black person in this world

I'm giving up on everything I just don't care anymore this world is pissing me the fuck off.

I know everyone has it hard people have their struggles and I know the black race isn't the only one that faces a lot of bullshit.

But it's clear blacks are seen as the lowest of the low it just doesn't matter what I do as a black person I'm seen as violent I'm seen as dumb and I'm seen as a strain on society.

It dosent matter if I'm well educated because I will forever be viewed as a person who didn't earn my keep because blacks are seen as lazy.

I can't aspire for having a high position of authority like mayor or president because blacks are seen as incompetent or destroyers of nations.

In this world it's clear that if your black your the scum of the earth and if your white everyone sees you as a god you can be a complete fuck up but people still want to be white.

I just can't take it anymore why the fuck did my parents even have me it's clear that blacks are morons to keep having kids in this fucked up word that hates and looks down on you before you can walk or even talk.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Most people don’t buy this “woe is me” and “I’m a victim” crap. Quit making excuses and act like the person you want to be.

I'm with you on this. It's just an excuse. Everyone has their issues to overcome and we have to pull ourselves up.

Yeah, but according to the African-Americans that I've spoken to about this he wasn't a "proper" black person. The main reasons cited were that he wears expensive suits, sits up very straight for photos and is successful.

(To be fair I have never been to America so I've only spoken to a handful of African-Americans about this, and they were drunk and on holiday so perhaps weren't thinking clearly)

The key to being a successful black person is simple: quit identifying with being black. Do you think any white person identifies with being white? No. Identify with being a writer, or being a programmer or whatever it is you do.

Race and gender are the lowest and most basic forms of identification. Building an identity around either of those two will leave you hollow and small. Define yourself by much greater terms.

This is the smartest thing I've ever read on this website.

Well you could always move to Africa. Then you will have no excuse for being a failure but yourself and your empty excuses.

The point was, you maroon, that in Africa you can't blame the "man" for your lack of anything that could make you successful. Your failure could only be blamed on you and you alone.

Hmmm, lemme think of some successful and relatively well respected black people, Barack Obama, OJ Simpson (bad example but fuck it), Jay Z, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Hart, Jacob Lawrence, Nelson Mandela

Notice how i picked very different people from many different industries and jobs

Agreed with nikki. Use that as motivation, rather than accept it as defeat. Take it as a challenge rather than a setback

People think many things, but what they think is much less relevant to actions. For example, a lot of people think Trump can't lead America, yet he does. I will label all this as blaming somebody else for your own failures. That's not good, and people do it a lot, regardless of their race.

This is some kind of weird race-bait trolling. The "mayor or president" line is what gives it away. Just a touch too silly.

  • Just go through your life normally like everyone else, trying to be the best person you can be.

Also, were you not paying attention to the fact that Obama was president of one of the greatest countries in the world for 8 years?

The other day I was thinking about how I'd like to be doing better, making more, working less.
Then I asked myself if I'd rather be me.
or someone just like me from Guatemala walking across mexico.
Hoping to not get shot at the border.
You have opportunities, it's up to you to take advantage of them.

In England, black people aren't looked down on as dumb. They aren't looked down on as lazy either. In England, we're colour blind. We have no guns and we don't percieve skin colour as a weakness. Come over here. By the way did I mention we have no guns? I repeat, we have ZERO guns.

I am black too and it saddens me read this post because I am trying hard in my everyday life, in my job, with my friends everywhere to try to uplift other black people. Yes we have a difficult past which still affect us economically and psychologically. We as black people have to study story to know why we are here today. It's not because of laziness and not because we are more stupid. It's because for years we have been abused and exploited and when slavery was abolished we were left with nothing and had to start all over while the white people were already rich (we made them so), had access to education etc.. In Africa they colonised, divided and enslaved the black people. Forced christianity upon them and forced their capitalist culture. Not much has changed. But we as black people are not the one who should feel ashame for this past. We are victims. Yes, in many places we are seen as the lowest but do you feel as the lowest? You know your potential, you know that you are not what many claim that you are just because you are black. Walk with your head high. It won't feel natural first but pretend until it becomes natural. Embrace your blackness. If our ancestors have made it through all that shit we can too.

I'm also a victim. 2000 years ago my ancestors were slaughtered and replaced with other ancestors. So sad. They should apologize and give me free stuff.

They got replaced by others partially and they mixed into a new race. But yes, I can feel the irony and it was a pretty smooth one. Nice. I could have benefited from a better formulation there.

Extremely different views on racism, we don't really have the black/white thing (more of a Muslim/everyone else thing) and negligible amounts of shootings.

Our knife crime on the other hand... Ugh.

Yes, life is harder for you as a black person. You'll always have to work harder and behave better than a white person in the same situation. Yes, that's extremely unfair.

But the thing is, it gets better. It's not getting better as fast as it should, and that sucks, but it's still getting better. A lot of white people love to point out how much worse it was for previous generations as a way of dismissing or diminishing what you experience today, and I'm not doing that at all...but things are better today than they were yesterday. And, more importantly, they'll be better tomorrow than they are today.

That's why your parents had you, because they knew your life would be better than theirs. And if you have children, their life will be better than yours. That's why black people have children. And you, personally, can help make sure life is better for them. That's the hope you have as a black person.

What a crock of marshmallowed condescending idealistic shit. Black people are like white people. They have children because they get boozed up impulsively and go fuck. This is not junior high school. Go wash your vagina.

No, don't think of yourself like that! There's good, and bad in every race, and ethnicity. God has given you freewill, and you can choose how to conduct yourself. Of course neither you, nor I, or anyone else have control over how others choose to see us. Some people are going to judge others fairly, and others are not, but we all get to choose how we conduct ourselves.
