    I see what you mean. I agree with most of what you believe in, except maybe ideas related to faith. It is such a shame that you had to drop out of college for that sort of hollow love. The way I see it, an intimate relationship generates that kind of love and trust that you can't find anywhere else. You could say anything, do anything, or live the way you like. your partner would tell you everything on their mind and would support your decisions in life even if they go against their wishes. Unfortunately, these kinds of relationship rarely occur in modern times. I like the part about your parents. That kind of love is what people desperately need in our time. Too bad you can't go back in time and fix the things you regret doing...

      Now as an older woman I can be kinda grumpy when I hear some much younger person, especially a younger female, who is obsessed with dating, sex and relationships. Sure, it's part of life, but it's not everything.

        Your cynicism makes sense from the gas lighting backdrop of your past. I would just say this.

        1). Being obsessed with dating, sex and relationships often has a healthy developmental component to it. Learning how to have fun as a couple continues to nurture healthy dynamics all thru life. For example, I had a 19 year old girlfriend that was as precise as a surgical nurse when helping me fix my motorcycle. The unity we felt in our common goal was uplifting. Ummmm, btw I married her.

        2). At age 48, you're still in the game of life. You could still make bad mistakes like you did in college. One of them is dropping out of society.

        3). I agree that rigid patriarchy inhibits the synergy that active parents need to maximize good influences on their kids. Just a genetic note that in patrilineal kinship, the last name follows the Y-chromosome. There can be no real analogy for this with X-chromosomes.

        4). Maybe you need a volunteer job.

        And I suppose that's also some of the wisdom brought by experience. Being an adolescent male myself, I can more or less get why some people obsess over these things during this phase in their life. I mean, the hormones do get wild lol, but I've got my priorities straight and I would like to build a successful career for myself as well.
